Horsing Around

The team at Brouha took a day out of the office to experience first-hand the benefits of Equine Led Coaching, Lucy Baker of Brouha, explains more:

You may have seen recently we have a new client in the Brouha stable (no pun intended), Equine Led Coaching, a coaching provider offering a unique approach to corporate team building by providing a restorative and safe space to grow and develop ideas, using horses.  In order to fully understand the offering, the Brouha team were delighted to be offered to take part in a session ourselves and relished the opportunity to take time out to focus solely on the Brouha team and the business as whole.  As 2023 draws to a close it’s the ideal time to take a look back and consider the highs and lows from the past twelve months and build on the lessons learned for the year ahead.  When it comes to our day job, our clients always come first, so it was great to step back from the coal face and apply some real focus to Brouha and our plans for the future.

I have to say, I was sceptical – probably the most sceptical person on the day.  I love working as part of a team, providing help, support and guidance and pulling together to get the job done – but stuff like this seemed out of my comfort zone and I really wasn’t sure what we would achieve.  But, it was a fantastic morning which proved interesting and insightful.  Working with the horses – Wilfred, Moonie and Dally, all of whom were beautiful – we were able to gain a completely unique perspective on not only how we approach situations as individuals, but also as a team.  We were able to support each other, offer advice and guidance and relate it back to your normal working practises.  Being outside in the beautiful (albeit rather chilly) Wiltshire countryside, around the horses provided a real sense of grounding, with all of the external noise that comes was part of the usual every day stripped away.  It really was quite fascinating, and we came away from the morning with a fresh understanding of each other as well as some ideas we will be implementing which we know will have a positive impact on the way we work together day by day in order to continue to deliver on our client expectations into 2024.
